Chandra Villa Ayurveda Resort is a small Ayurveda retreat on Old Galle Road in Bentota, with seven air-conditioned rooms set around an outdoor pool in a garden of tall trees. Built in a blend of traditional Sri Lankan architecture and modern comforts, it is a quiet place for guests who come to Bentota for Ayurvedic treatments, yoga and rest, a short walk inland from the beach.
The resort stands at No 48, Old Galle Road in Bentota, on the south-west coast of Sri Lanka. Bentota Beach is roughly a 10 to 15-minute walk away, Bentota Lake is about a 12-minute walk, and Bentota railway station is about 1.4 km away. Induruwa Beach lies about 3 km further south.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is about 110 km from the resort by road, and the drive usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours on the airport and Southern expressways, depending on traffic around Colombo. The simplest way to arrive after a long flight is a private airport transfer booked in advance with Lakpura: an English-speaking driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you straight to the resort in an air-conditioned car, van or coach sized for your group, from 2 up to 15 guests, at a fixed price for the whole vehicle rather than per seat. The same service works in reverse for your departure flight. Book the Colombo (CMB) Airport transfer to Chandra Villa.
There are only seven rooms, which keeps the resort calm and personal. Listings show Standard Double and Deluxe Double rooms, all air-conditioned with a private bathroom, a safety deposit box and free Wi-Fi; most look out over the garden, and some have a balcony or a view of the pool.
Ayurveda is the heart of the stay. The resort offers Ayurvedic massages and treatments, including Panchakarma programmes, alongside yoga classes and beauty treatments, and its kitchen prepares meals that follow Ayurvedic dietary principles. The restaurant also serves Indian dishes, and room service and packed lunches for excursions are available.
Between treatments, guests can borrow the resort's bicycles to reach the beach and the lake, or join the excursions it arranges to local temples, markets, festivals and a river safari on the Bentota River. Lunuganga, Geoffrey Bawa's country estate, and Brief Garden, created by his brother Bevis, are both close by, and the Kosgoda turtle hatcheries are a short drive south. Lakpura can arrange private transfers and day tours from the resort.
