About this experience
Step into an air-conditioned vehicle at your Mount Lavinia hotel and head north into the Cultural Triangle for an 11-hour private tour of two of Sri Lanka's most significant ancient sites. At Dambulla, climb to the UNESCO World Heritage cave temple — carved into a granite outcrop and used by meditating monks since the 1st century BCE — and take in its centuries-old murals and Buddha statues. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide is on hand throughout to provide context at every turn.
From Dambulla, continue to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, scaling the 200-metre volcanic plug to explore the remains of a 5th-century citadel. Visit the on-site museum before your guide drives you back to Mount Lavinia. A water bottle is provided per person. Entrance fees for both sites and meals are not included, so carry local currency for tickets and lunch along the way.
