A Sinhala retelling of the Nasrudin stories, written by Percy Jayamanne and published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena. The text is entirely in Sinhala, so readers will need the language to use it.
Nasrudin is a figure held to have lived in Turkey, a country of the Middle East. A great many stories have gathered around his name, and they have passed into the cultures of many countries, taking root so firmly that the people of those places treat them as their own. The tales turn their humour on ignorant men who try to make themselves conspicuous in society, showing what such people are actually like. What they offer the ordinary reader is comedy and sense together.
This is a book for Sinhala readers who enjoy folk humour and the short comic tale, and for families abroad keeping up reading in Sinhala with children and older readers alike. M. D. Gunasena is a long-established Colombo publisher and bookseller working in Sinhala and English.
