About this experience
Your private, air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your Sigiriya hotel and heads into the Matale Highlands for a full ten-hour day with your English-speaking chauffeur guide. The first stop is Nalanda Gedige, a rare fusion of Hindu and Buddhist architecture dating back over a thousand years. From there, you spend time at the Euphoria Spice and Herbal Gardens, where staff walk you through the spices that define Sri Lankan cooking before a hands-on demonstration leads into a traditional lunch. The afternoon brings you to Aluvihara, an ancient rock temple carved into a granite cliff, before the day closes at Sembuwatta Lake — arrive at sunset and let the still water and forested hills do the rest.
This is a private tour, suited to travellers aged seven and above. Hotel pickup and drop-off, transport, your guide, the cooking demo, and lunch are all included. Entrance fees to Nalanda Gedige and Sembuwatta Lake are paid separately on the day. Gratuities and personal expenses are also not covered.
