Your ride
Your guide meets you at the Ella Gap Hotel car park — the standard meeting point — with bicycles, helmets, safety glasses, and refreshments ready to go. Choose a morning start at 8:30 am or an afternoon start at 1:30 pm, then set off at your own pace with the backup vehicle never far behind.
Pedalling cross-country through pockets of woodland, you reach the Nine Arch Bridge, a 300-foot stone-and-brick viaduct built during the British era entirely without steel. Walk the railway line across the span while your guide shares the stories behind it — and line up the perfect photograph.
From there the route climbs to Little Adam’s Peak, where the land falls away to reveal the Ella Gap and the distant Knuckles Range, with green fields and blue rivers unfolding far below. Catch your breath at the Ballaketuwa Viewpoint before dropping in at Ravana Cave — tied to the Ramayana legend of King Ravana and Princess Sita — for a scramble and a story.
The finale is the majestic Ravana Waterfall, one of the island’s most-loved cascades. You hear its roar long before it comes into view, tumbling 82 feet into a pool at its base. Feel the cool mist, dip your feet in the water, and toast a memorable ride before your guide drops you back at your hotel.
