A practical handbook on drawing and painting, written in Sinhala by Sathsara Ilangasinghe. The focus is on the applied side of the subject — the doing rather than the theory — and the book is pitched at school and university students as well as at anyone who simply likes to draw.
The text is entirely in Sinhala, with no English edition or parallel translation, so buyers outside Sri Lanka should be comfortable reading the language before ordering. It comes from M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, a Colombo publishing house whose list includes a long run of school and general-interest titles in Sinhala and English.
For Sinhala-reading families abroad looking for art material their children can work from in their own language, or for anyone building a shelf of Sri Lankan teaching texts, this sits in a category that is hard to find outside the island.
