Question 1

What is Vihamanaafushi in the Maldives?

Accepted Answer

Vihamanaafushi is the island on which Kurumba Maldives is built, located in North Malé Atoll. It is historically significant as the site of the first resort to open in the Maldives, operating since 1972. The island is known for its lush tropical vegetation, established reef, and wide range of accommodation categories.

Question 2

How far is Vihamanaafushi from Malé airport?

Accepted Answer

Vihamanaafushi is one of the closest Maldivian resort islands to Velana International Airport, with a speedboat transfer that typically takes around ten to fifteen minutes. This short journey makes it particularly convenient for guests arriving on late-night or early-morning flights, as seaplane transfers are not required.

Question 3

Does Kurumba Maldives have overwater villas?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Kurumba Maldives offers overwater villas built on stilts above the lagoon on one side of the island. These villas typically include features such as glass floor panels, direct ladder access into the water, and open-horizon deck views. They represent the classic Maldivian overwater accommodation experience.

Question 4

Is Vihamanaafushi good for snorkelling?

Accepted Answer

The house reef around Vihamanaafushi supports a range of coral and marine life and is directly accessible from the island, making it a convenient snorkelling destination. The resort's water sports centre can also arrange excursions to nearby dive sites and reefs in the North Malé Atoll for guests who want to explore beyond the house reef.

Question 5

What is the difference between beach villas and overwater villas at Kurumba?

Accepted Answer

Beach villas are positioned along the island's shoreline and provide direct sand access, suiting guests who prefer the beach underfoot. Overwater villas are built above the lagoon and offer ladder access directly into the water, along with expansive deck views over open ocean. Both categories are available with or without private pools, depending on the specific room type chosen.

Question 6

Are there all-inclusive packages at Vihamanaafushi?

Accepted Answer

Kurumba Maldives typically offers a range of meal plan options including breakfast only, half-board, full-board, and all-inclusive arrangements. The availability and structure of these packages can vary seasonally and by room category, so it is advisable to confirm which plan is included when making a booking.

Question 7

What is the best month to visit Kurumba Maldives?

Accepted Answer

The period from November to April, during the northeast monsoon, generally offers the most settled weather, calmest seas, and best underwater visibility around North Malé Atoll. The southwest monsoon months from May to October bring higher rainfall but lower rates and fewer crowds, and the atoll's relatively sheltered position means conditions are often still manageable during this period.
