Makara and Makara Porondam

صورة من إنشاء الذكاء الاصطناعي · ليست صورة فوتوغرافية حقيقية

When a bride and groom share the same rashi, Makara, families often wonder what that means for porondam and porutham. Here the rashi is the moon sign (chandra rashi) in the sidereal zodiac used in Sri Lanka, not the sun sign printed in newspapers. This page explains the rashi-level results and why the two birth stars matter most.

What does the rashi count mean when both are Makara?

The rashi count is found by counting from the bride's moon sign to the groom's. When both moon signs are Makara, the count is 1, because the two signs are the same.

Because the signs are identical, the result is the same whichever way you look at it. A Makara bride with a Makara groom and a Makara groom with a Makara bride give exactly the same count and the same statuses. In this pairing, the calculator marks the rashi item as obtained in the Sinhala porondam and the rasi item as obtained in the Tamil porutham. That is a pleasing start, but it is only one part of a much larger picture.

Are the rashi lords friendly for a Makara and Makara couple?

Each rashi has a ruling planet, and the friendship between the two lords is checked as rashyadhipathi in Sinhala porondam and rasi adhipathi in Tamil porutham. Makara is ruled by Saturn, so both the bride's and the groom's rashi lord is the same planet.

When both lords are one and the same planet, there is no question of disagreement between them. The calculator therefore marks rashyadhipathi as obtained and rasi adhipathi as obtained. As with the rashi count, this holds equally in both directions, since swapping the bride and groom changes nothing when they share a sign. Families often find this reassuring, though it is still a rashi-level result rather than the full match.

Why is vashya not obtained in this pairing?

Vashya looks at a traditional relationship of attraction or influence between the two rashis. Each sign has its own set of signs counted as vashya to it, and a sign is not listed as vashya to itself in the scheme the calculator follows.

For a Makara bride and a Makara groom, the calculator marks vashya as not obtained in the Sinhala porondam and vasya as not obtained in the Tamil porutham. The reverse direction gives the same status, because the signs are identical. This is simply one item among many. It does not by itself decide a match, and astrologers weigh it together with the star-based items before reaching any view.

Why do the birth stars decide the real match?

Porondam and porutham are calculated mainly from the two birth stars (nakshatra), not from the rashi alone. Makara contains parts of several nakshatras, and when the star quarters of both people are combined there are 81 possible star-quarter combinations for this pairing.

Those combinations vary a great deal. In the calculator's figures, about 85% pass the Sinhala porondam (leaving aside the weekday item), while only about 15% reach 8 of 10 Tamil porutham. Around 43% come out weak in the Tamil system, and about 36% have the Tamil rajju item not obtained. Two Makara couples can therefore receive quite different results, which is why full birth details are essential.
