Dhanu and Kumbha Porondam

صورة من إنشاء الذكاء الاصطناعي · ليست صورة فوتوغرافية حقيقية

Dhanu (Sagittarius) and Kumbha (Aquarius) give quite different rashi-level results depending on which partner holds which sign. This page walks through both directions using our calculator's figures and explains why the two birth stars, not the signs alone, settle the match.

Which rashi is being matched here?

In Sri Lankan porondam and Tamil porutham, the rashi is the moon sign (chandra rashi): the sign the Moon occupied at birth in the sidereal zodiac used in Sri Lanka. It is not the sun sign printed in newspaper horoscopes, so someone who reads as Sagittarius in a magazine may have a quite different moon sign.

The rashi factors covered here are the rashi count between the two signs, the relationship between the two rashi lords, and vashya. Each is marked as obtained, partly obtained or not obtained. Because the count is taken from the bride's sign to the groom's, the results change when the signs are swapped, so we look at both directions separately.

What happens when the bride is Dhanu and the groom is Kumbha?

Counting from Dhanu to Kumbha gives 3. In Sinhala porondam, the rashi factor is partly obtained; in Tamil porutham, rasi is not obtained.

The rashi lords are Jupiter for Dhanu and Saturn for Kumbha, which are mutually neutral. The two traditions weigh this differently: Sinhala rashyadhipathi is partly obtained, while Tamil rasi adhipathi is obtained.

Vashya is not obtained in either system for this pairing. These are only the sign-level items, though. The fuller picture comes from the birth stars, and in this direction the results across star combinations vary considerably, as the figures below show.

What happens when the bride is Kumbha and the groom is Dhanu?

Counting from Kumbha to Dhanu gives 11. Here the rashi factor is obtained in both Sinhala porondam and Tamil porutham, a noticeably stronger start than the reverse direction.

The rashi lords are again Saturn and Jupiter, mutually neutral. As before, Sinhala rashyadhipathi is partly obtained and Tamil rasi adhipathi is obtained.

Vashya remains not obtained in both systems, since it depends on the pair of signs rather than on direction. Overall, this direction shows more favourable rashi-level items, but as with any pairing, the individual birth stars of the two people are what ultimately shape the result.

Why do the birth stars decide the real match?

Most porondam and porutham factors, including gana, yoni, rajju and nakshatra itself, come from the two birth stars (nakshatra) and their quarters. Within this pair of signs there are 81 possible star-quarter combinations in each direction, and outcomes differ widely.

With a Dhanu bride and Kumbha groom, 78% of combinations pass Sinhala porondam (excluding the weekday factor), 51% fall into the weaker band of Tamil porutham, and none reach 8 of 10 porutham. With a Kumbha bride and Dhanu groom, 100% pass Sinhala porondam, none fall into the weaker Tamil band, and 14% reach 8 of 10. In neither direction did any combination show a Tamil rajju clash.
