Kekuna Ella is a serene and lesser-known waterfall nestled within the lush landscapes of Sri Lanka's Galle District near Lankagama, on the borders of the Sinharaja Forest Reserve. Hidden within a rich tropical rainforest, it offers an untouched natural experience away from crowded tourist hotspots. The journey to the waterfall is scenic, passing through rural surroundings and dense greenery that reflect the charm of Sri Lanka's southern countryside, making it ideal for travelers seeking peace and solitude.

Standing at approximately 11 meters in height, Kekuna Ella flows over rocky layers, creating a beautiful cascading effect into a shallow natural pool. Surrounded by thick vegetation, the area is rich in biodiversity, with endemic plants, birds, and butterflies enhancing its appeal. The cool mist and soothing sound of flowing water create a refreshing atmosphere, perfect for relaxation, photography, and enjoying nature.

Reaching Kekuna Ella involves a moderate trek through forest trails. From Lankagama, it is about 2.5 km to the waterfall, while the Deniyaya route requires around 1.5 km to the forest edge and another 2 km inside. The paths can be slippery during rainy periods, so proper footwear is recommended. Along the same waterway, about 1.5 km upstream, lies the scenic Patan Oya Falls. The best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon season, and visitors are encouraged to carry essentials and help preserve this pristine environment.
