The Ramayana is the oldest of the great epic poems of Hindu Sanskrit literature, composed by the sage Valmiki. This Sinhala account of it comes from P.M.P. Abhayasinghe, issued by the Colombo publishing house M. D. Gunasena & Co.
The text is entirely in Sinhala. There is no English translation alongside it, so a reader without Sinhala will not be able to follow the book — worth knowing before ordering from outside Sri Lanka. For readers who do have the language, it is a treatment of the Rama story in the form it circulates among Sinhala readers, published by a house long established in Colombo that produces school and general-interest titles in Sinhala and English.
