About this experience
Tackle one of Sri Lanka's toughest trails on this private, guided hike along the Devil's Staircase — a gruelling 15 km route from Bambarakanda Rest to Ohiya, near Horton Plains. Starting at 07:30, you spend roughly seven hours moving through rugged hill terrain, passing Bambarakanda Falls (the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka) and squeezing through the 'V Cut', a narrow pass carved through solid rock. Refreshments, energy slabs, and a trail lunch keep you fuelled throughout. A qualified first-aid officer accompanies the group, and a backup vehicle stands by for emergencies. Minimum age is 12. Best conditions run January to March and June to August.
Note that hotel pickup, drop-off, and transport to the Bambarakanda trailhead are not included — arrange your own way to the start point. Lakpura handles the rest: guide, support staff, first aid, and all on-trail provisions. Total tour time is approximately 10 hours.
