Pedal through the quiet trails and paddy-lined back roads surrounding Sigiriya on this private five-hour cycling tour. Your experienced guide leads the way on mountain bikes — helmets included — pointing out scattered ruins along the route and sharing the stories behind them. A bottle of water is provided to keep you going as you take in the untamed countryside at your own pace.
The ride brings you to the base of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, where you swap the saddle for the steps and climb to the summit. Explore the landscaped gardens and ingeniously engineered water features that date back to King Kasyappa's reign, then study the famous frescoes painted into the rockface before reaching the top for sweeping views across the surrounding plains. Food, drinks beyond the included water, and gratuities are at your own expense. Minimum age is eight years.
