About this experience
Pedal out of Kitulgala and into a landscape of dense rubber plantations, where the canopy closes overhead and the air smells of damp earth. This private, three-hour cycling tour follows trails through overgrown estates before a jungle hike leads you to Belilena Caves — an archaeological site where the skeleton of the "Balangoda Man" was unearthed, pushing back the story of human habitation in Sri Lanka by tens of thousands of years. A cycling guide accompanies you throughout, and biscuits, snacks, and refreshments are included.
The tour is open to participants aged ten and above and is conducted in English. Hotel pick-up and drop-off are not included, so you'll make your own way to the starting point in Kitulgala. Gratuities and any food or drinks beyond those provided are also at your own expense. Bring a camera — the cave chambers and plantation trails make for striking photographs.
