Dambora Ella

Dambora Ella is a hidden waterfall located in the village of Dambora near Labugama, within Sri Lanka’s Colombo District. Though not easily visible from the road, it offers a secluded and tranquil retreat fed by the Wakoya River and rising approximately 10 meters in height.

The waterfall cascades into a rocky pool set within dense jungle terrain, surrounded by lush forest. Its name, "Demala Falls", reflects a past where Tamil laborers frequented the area, bathing beneath the falls.

Visitors must trek off the beaten path—there is no proper road or access path to the site—and should be cautious during wet periods when leeches may pose a problem.

Best visited during the dry season, Dambora Ella remains largely uncrowded and provides a peaceful, natural escape close to Colombo. Its seclusion and serene atmosphere make it a hidden gem for adventurous day-trippers.
