About this experience
Clip into your harness at Warakara Waterfall on the edge of Ella town and lean back over an 80-foot drop, descending hand-over-hand through live falling water. A twenty-minute trek from the main road brings you to the base of the falls, where your guide runs a full safety briefing before anyone touches the rope. Harnesses, helmets, descending devices and adjustable life jackets are all provided, with transfer from Ella to the site included in this private, three-hour activity for travellers aged 13 and over.
At the top of the falls, a natural pool waits for a swim once you've made the descent, with views back over the Ella valley. Guides are trained in CPR, lifesaving and rope access technique, keeping the challenge intact while managing the risk. Not wheelchair accessible, and unsuitable for anyone with back problems, serious medical conditions, or expectant mothers. Food, drinks, gratuities and hotel pick-up aren't included, so pack water and snacks before you set off.
