Negombo Lagoon, on the west coast of Sri Lanka, is one of the best places in the country for water sports. It is a calm, sheltered estuary, and that shelter is the point: the water stays settled, so the lagoon is a sensible place to try a sport for the first time as well as to ride it hard. Sessions run here through the year.
This guided session covers three rides. The jet ski ride is the fast one, a powered run out across the lagoon. The tube ride puts you on an inflatable tube towed across the water. The banana boat ride is the long inflatable, towed the same way. English-speaking instructors and guides run each of them and stay with you through the session. It is a water sports session rather than a fishing or sightseeing trip, so the three rides are the whole of it.
Depending on what you want, private tuition, group sessions and watersports packages can be arranged on request. There is no hotel pickup or drop-off, so you make your own way to the lagoon, and food and drinks are not provided.
