Your chauffeur guide collects you from your Hambantota hotel and heads west along the southern coast. First stop is Handunugoda Tea Estate, home to Sri Lanka's only virgin white tea factory — watch how the leaves are harvested untouched by hand and learn what sets this rare tea apart from every other estate on the island. A tasting rounds off the visit before you continue towards Galle.
In Galle, step inside the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dutch Fort, a compact labyrinth of 17th-century ramparts, cobbled streets, and colonial architecture still in daily use. Your English-speaking guide narrates the layers of Portuguese, Dutch, and British history as you explore. The full day runs to ten hours, and your private air-conditioned vehicle, hotel pickup and drop-off, and a litre of bottled water per person are all included.
