Step into your private, air-conditioned vehicle at 8:00 am as your English-speaking chauffeur guide collects you from your hotel in Beruwala. Your first stop is the Madu River, where a 1.5-hour boat safari takes you through pristine mangrove forests alive with birds, monkeys, and reptiles. At 11:00 am you continue to Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, where conservation staff walk you through protection efforts for Sri Lanka's sea turtles and you see hatchlings up close.
The afternoon centres on Bundala National Park, a wetland reserve celebrated for its migratory birdlife and scenic lagoons. A 3-hour safari wraps up around 4:30 pm before your chauffeur returns you to your hotel by 6:00 pm. A one-litre bottle of mineral water per person is provided.
