About this experience
Depart the Diving Center in Negombo at 8am, before the climbing sun pushes the sea's shyer residents into shadow and clouds the water's clarity. A 20-minute boat ride carries you to Negombo's best snorkelling spot, where the crew fits your mask, snorkel and fins and you slip into the shallows over a living reef. Expect bright coral formations, shoals of small silver-blue fish, a hermit crab peeking out from its shell, anemones swaying over hidden danger, and clownfish darting fearlessly through the strands. Bring an underwater camera if you have one.
This is a private two-hour trip — just you and your guide — returning to the harbour by 9.30am. Boat ride and snorkelling equipment are included; gratuities are not. Minimum age is 12, and the activity isn't suitable for those with serious medical conditions, back problems, or expectant mothers.
