About this experience
Board your air-conditioned vehicle in Negombo and head north to Sigiriya, where a 200-metre volcanic rock rises above the jungle. Climb the ancient stairways of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka's most significant archaeological landmarks — passing the famous frescoes and lion's paw entrance before reaching the 5th-century palace ruins at the summit. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide walks you through the history at every step.
After lunch (own arrangement), transfer to Minneriya National Park and swap the car for a safari jeep. Spend three hours tracking Sri Lanka's wild elephants as they gather around the reservoir, alongside deer, buffalo, and birdlife in their natural habitat. A water bottle is provided per person. Hotel pickup and drop-off from Negombo are included; park entrance tickets and meals are at your own cost. Minimum age is 5. Total tour duration is 12 hours 30 minutes.
