About this experience
Climb one of the ancient world's most dramatic landmarks on this 12-hour private day trip from Mount Lavinia. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide collects you directly from your hotel and drives you north in an air-conditioned vehicle to Sigiriya Rock Fortress — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the seat of a 5th-century citadel carved into a 200-metre granite column. Explore the frescoes, mirror-wall galleries, and royal gardens at your own pace before ascending to the summit ruins.
After Sigiriya, the tour continues to Hiriwaduna Village, where you experience traditional Sri Lankan rural life first-hand. Paddle through irrigation channels by boat, walk paddy fields, and sit down to a traditional village lunch included in your tour. A water bottle per person is provided throughout the day. Note that Sigiriya Rock Fortress entrance tickets are not included and should be purchased on arrival. Your guide returns you to your Mount Lavinia hotel to close out the day.
