Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress — a UNESCO World Heritage Site rising 200 metres above the Central Plains — and walk the ancient pathways of a civilisation that once ruled Sri Lanka. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide leads you through the archaeological remains of this 5th-century citadel, pointing out the celebrated frescoes and the vast pleasure gardens below. After the fortress, the tour shifts pace into the surrounding countryside. Step inside a local Sigiriya village to share a traditional lunch with residents and see everyday rural life up close. The afternoon takes you to Habarana Lake, where a guided bird-watching session lets you scan the shoreline and canopy for the area's diverse avian species — kingfishers, storks, and more.
