Sari Giriya is a small saree studio near Sigiriya Rock. Choose a saree from the collection and the team will drape it for you properly, the way it is worn in Sri Lanka. Then you are free to stroll around Sigiriya in it for two hours and take your own photos, with the ancient rock fortress rising behind you.
It is a relaxed, self-guided experience, and a lovely way to remember your visit for couples, friends and families. Men can join in too, in a traditional sarong and shirt.

- Classic Saree Walk: a 2-hour rental of a saree from a selection of more than 20 designs, professionally draped.
- Saree, Hair & Jewellery: a 2-hour rental of any saree in the collection, professional draping and hair styling, and three sets of accessories.
- Saree, Hair, Makeup & Nails: everything in Saree, Hair & Jewellery, plus makeup and nail art. Getting ready takes about two hours, so please book ahead.
- Men's Sarong & Shirt: rental of a traditional Sri Lankan sarong and shirt, with simple dressing by the staff.

How it works
- Choose a saree: pick your favourite from the studio's collection of colourful sarees.
- Professional dressing: the studio's staff dress you carefully and perfect your look.
- Explore Sigiriya: enjoy two hours around Sigiriya in your saree and take your own photos.
Good to know
- Opening hours: 07:30 to 18:00, all year, weather permitting.
- Photos: you take them on your own phone or camera; a photographer is not included.
- Deposit: a refundable security deposit of US$5 is paid at the studio before you head out, and returned in full when the saree comes back.
- Not included: entry to Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
- Sizes: the blouses are made of stretchy fabric and come in sizes up to 3XL. Let us know about any special sizing when you book.
- Groups: the studio has two private changing rooms and dresses two guests at a time. In a larger group, the others relax in the waiting area until it is their turn.
- Running late? Let us know, and the studio can still dress you until 17:00 on the day you booked.
- Rain: if the weather is bad, you can move to another time or cancel free of charge.
- Extras at the studio (paid locally): a friendly local assistant for 2 hours who takes photos with your phone, carries your bags and adjusts your saree (US$10; there is one assistant, so ask for it when you book); and pickup and drop-off at hotels in Sigiriya for LKR 1,000 per round trip.
