About this experience
This four-day sailing trip explores the islands and waters off Jaffna in Sri Lanka's far north, aboard a private vessel that serves as both transport and overnight accommodation. The route runs from Karaitivu to Adam's Bridge and Mannar, then on to Delft, before returning to the mainland, taking in a stretch of the Palk Bay region rarely covered by standard itineraries.
Travellers get a mix of island landings, local history, birdlife and marine wildlife, and water sports such as swimming and snorkelling, all set around Jaffna's Tamil heritage and small fishing communities. Days are unhurried, built around sailing, onshore visits and meals taken on board or at local restaurants.
The trip runs as a private charter with an English-speaking captain, so the schedule follows the group alone. Meals, drinking water and water-sport activities are provided on board throughout, with local taxes included; personal expenses, entrance fees and beverages are excluded.
