About this experience
Your private, 12-hour day trip from Negombo brings you to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's first great capital — a city that ruled for over a millennium until the 10th century AD. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide collects you from your hotel and drives you north in an air-conditioned vehicle, arriving at a sprawling UNESCO World Heritage Site where pagodas, monastic complexes, and sacred ponds stretch across the landscape.
Walk the grounds of Jetavanarama, once among the tallest structures in the ancient world, pay your respects at the Sri Maha Bodhi — one of the oldest historically documented trees on earth — and explore the vast ruins of Abhayagiri Monastery. Entrance tickets are not included, so carry local currency for the site fees. Two 500 ml water bottles per person are provided, along with door-to-door transport. Minimum age for this tour is 7 years.
