Step into an air-conditioned vehicle at your Colombo hotel and travel north to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's ancient capital — a city that held power for over a millennium until the 10th century AD. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide leads you through the UNESCO-listed ruins, pausing at the towering Jetavanarama stupa, once among the tallest structures in the ancient world, the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree, and the vast remains of Abhayagiri Monastery.
