About this experience

You make your own piece of silver jewellery in a working craft studio, starting from a pickup at your chosen location in Arugam Bay. A local artisan runs the session, and no previous experience is needed: the tools, the bench and the metal are all set up for beginners. What you leave with is not a shop-bought souvenir but a ring, pendant, bracelet or other small item you have cut, shaped and polished yourself.

Your driver collects you and transfers you to the workshop, where the artisan walks you round the workspace, explains the traditional tools and demonstrates how raw silver becomes a finished piece. You then sketch a simple design and get to work, measuring, cutting and shaping the silver, hammering and texturing the metal, soldering and joining the sections, then filing, smoothing and polishing until it shines. Decorative details are optional and added under the artisan's eye. Size and design depend on the session length and the silver included; extra silver, gemstones or more complex designs can be arranged for a fee paid directly to the workshop.

The workshop runs three hours in total and is bookable for one to six guests. The price covers your transfer, the artisan's step-by-step guidance, tools, safety gear, the silver for a standard piece, tea or light refreshments, and the finished jewellery to take home. Booking is confirmed instantly, and cancellation is free with more than 24 hours' notice, with no refund inside that window.
