Gal Oya National Park Boat Safari

About this experience

One of the most untouched parks in Sri Lanka, and probably the only sanctuary in the island where you can enjoy a boat safari, the Gal Oya National Park is a gem where you can spot crocodiles basking in the sun, elephants swimming away and even some water birds comfortable in their own habitat. Spanning over 25000 hectares, the park is famous for the stunning Senanayake Samudraya Reservoir, which is the largest in Sri Lanka as well its grasslands and dense forests.

From mugger crocodiles that are endemic to South Asia to swimming elephants in the massive water body of the reservoir, and the elusive leopard which are well hidden in the dense jungles of the park, Gal Oya is known for these big three. Other mammals include primates, other species of wildcats and over 150 species of birds making it a photographer’s dream come true.
