About this experience
Most visits to Sigiriya are about climbing and looking. This one is about an animal. For one hour you stay with a single elephant and take part in three moments of its day: a ride, a meal and a bath.
It begins with the ride. For 30 minutes you sit on the elephant's back and move at its own pace through the countryside around Sigiriya City, high enough to see across the land and to notice the birdlife along the way. Back on the ground, you hand the elephant its food yourself, then watch as it is bathed and groomed. Your guide stays with you for the whole hour.
The starting point is Sigiriya City, in Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, so the hour sits easily before or after a visit to the ancient sites nearby on the same day.
The price is per group, not per person. Choose the option that matches the number of people travelling, from one to eight; the guide and the entrance tickets for everyone are already included in that price.
