It is enjoyed with tea and other drinks as a sweetener while many Sri Lankans use it to make a number of sweetmeats during the Avurudhu Season (Sinhala and Tamil New Year) as well as special occasions. Kithul Jaggery is even used in Ayurveda to prepare medications due to its medicinal properties. It also aids in digestion and prevents constipation. Kithul Jaggery is also rich in its antioxidants, minerals, calcium, fibre and salt.
