About this experience
This three-day camping trip takes you from Kandy into Meemure, one of Sri Lanka's most remote villages, tucked against the Knuckles mountain range. A chauffeur guide collects you from your Kandy hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, then transfers you to a 4x4 for the rough final approach, stopping at Corbett's Gap for views over the Knuckles range before reaching the village and its campsite.
Once there, the pace is set by the village itself: rock pools and fish massages, a walking tour of Meemure's agricultural way of life with a taste of jaggery and toddy, and a full day's hike to the neighbouring village of Narangamuwa past Lakegala Mountain. A further hike leads to Navarathna Waterfall, with time to bathe before the return journey to Kandy. Evenings are spent around a campfire with a barbecue dinner.
Accommodation is camping at the village site for all three days, with village-cooked meals included from Day 1 lunch onwards. An English-speaking guide with first-aid training accompanies you throughout, and the only costs to plan for separately are your first breakfast and any personal purchases.
