Biseka Oil Pulling Mouth Wash is a herbal oral care oil made in Sri Lanka, built on virgin coconut oil and a blend of plant extracts drawn from the island's Ayurvedic tradition. It comes in an amber bottle with a fine spray top, and is meant for the old practice of oil pulling: swishing a little oil around the mouth before brushing.
The base is pure virgin coconut oil, a staple of every Sri Lankan kitchen. Into it go mint, clove and cinnamon, which give the oil its warm, spiced aroma and a cool, clean finish, along with licorice, alum and the herbal extracts Ailanthus Excelsa and Millettia Pinnata.
Biseka is a Sri Lankan maker of handmade skin, hair and personal care products formulated around local Ayurvedic ingredients. This mouth wash follows the same approach: a short list of recognisable botanicals in a simple oil, in an amber bottle wrapped in the brand's black label with its white mandala.
To use it, take a small amount of oil into the mouth, swish it around for a little while, then spit it out, rinse with water and brush your teeth as usual. It is intended as part of a daily routine rather than a substitute for brushing, and the oil should be spat out, not swallowed.
