About this experience
Step into a private safari jeep and head into Bundala National Park, a Ramsar-designated wetland on Sri Lanka's southern coast. Over four hours, your English-speaking driver — who doubles as your tracker — guides you through a mosaic of lagoons, scrub forest, and sand dunes alive with migratory waterbirds. Flamingos, painted storks, and lesser adjutants are among the species that fly in from as far as Siberia each winter, and the park's butterfly population adds a vivid extra layer to every stop. A water bottle is included per person, and hotel pickup and drop-off from Tissamaharama is arranged for you.
Note that national-park entrance fees are not included and must be paid in cash at the gate — your driver will walk you through the process on the day. The minimum age for this private tour is five years. Food and drinks beyond the water bottle are at your own expense, and gratuities are optional.
