About this experience
Step out into the reeds and waterways of Thalangama Wetland, just a short drive from central Colombo, for a two-hour private birdwatching walk led by an experienced, English-speaking guide. Scan the lake's edge for kingfishers, herons, and painted storks, then turn your attention to the dragonflies and butterflies drifting through the marsh vegetation. A refreshment and bottled water are included, so you can focus entirely on what's flying past.
Thalangama is one of the most rewarding birding spots near Colombo, accessible year-round and suitable for guests aged five and above. Because this is a private activity, the pace is yours — linger at a promising perch or move quietly along the bank as your guide points out species and behaviours.
