About this experience
Board a small boat at Muthurajawela Marsh and spend three hours drifting through one of Sri Lanka's most significant wetland ecosystems. Your private naturalist guides you along the Negombo Lagoon waterways, pointing out herons, kingfishers, and the many resident and migratory water birds that inhabit the marsh. Binoculars in hand, you move quietly through channels fringed with mangroves as the city fades behind you. Bottled water is provided, and the tour departs from Mount Lavinia.
This is a private activity, so the pace is yours. Children aged five and above are welcome. Personal expenses, gratuities, and meals fall outside what Lakpura includes, so plan accordingly. Three hours on the water gives you enough time to observe the marsh's layered ecosystem without rushing — a calm, unhurried contrast to the bustle of Colombo just down the coast.
