About this experience
Your private 10-hour tour departs from your Beruwala hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, with an English-speaking chauffeur guide alongside you throughout. The first stop is the Lunuganga estate — Geoffrey Bawa's celebrated country retreat near Bentota, where sculpted gardens tumble across a cinnamon-scented peninsula overlooking Dedduwa Lake. Next, head north to Balapitiya for a boat safari on the Madu River, weaving through a network of mangrove islands rich in birdlife and river monitors.
The day rounds off in Galle, Sri Lanka's best-preserved colonial port. Walk the broad ramparts of the 17th-century Dutch fort, browse the cobbled streets lined with boutiques and heritage buildings, and take in the lighthouse before your chauffeur drives you back to Beruwala. A bottle of water per person is provided. Entrance tickets, meals, and gratuities are not included. Minimum age for this tour is 5.
