Ayush Total Oral Care Fluoridated Toothpaste with Clove Oil and Dasanakanthi Choornam is a toothpaste formulated within the Ayurvedic tradition and manufactured in Sri Lanka by Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd. The Lever Ayush range was co-created with Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, a long-established Ayurvedic institution, bringing together the conventions of that tradition and the standards of a modern fluoridated toothpaste. It is certified 100% Vegetarian and carries PAP and SS certifications as printed on the pack.
The two principal herbal components are clove bud oil — listed in the composition as Eugenia Caryophyllus (Bud) Oil — and Dasanakanthi Choornam, a traditional Ayurvedic dental powder with roots in Kerala Ayurveda. Clove oil has a long history of use in Ayurvedic dental care and gives the toothpaste its characteristic warm, spicy character. Dasanakanthi Choornam is a multi-herb blend that draws together botanicals including Piper longum, Terminalia chebula, Elettaria cardamomum, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Berberis aristata, Acacia catechu, Acacia nilotica, Symplocos racemosa, Mesua ferrea, Rosa centifolia, and Cananga, among others — sixteen botanical and mineral ingredients in total.
The toothpaste is fluoridated, with available fluoride in the range of 1000 to 1500 ppm delivered through Sodium Monofluorophosphate, placing it in line with standard fluoridated toothpaste practice. Other formulation ingredients include Calcium Carbonate, Hydrated Silica, Glycerin, Kaolin, Xanthan Gum, Cetylpyridinium Chloride, and Eugenol, which is present as a separate ingredient alongside the clove bud oil. The tube comes fitted with a white screw cap and is presented in a carton box.
Available in a range of sizes — 30g, 70g, 110g, and 150g — the toothpaste suits both household use and travel. The pack directions advise brushing at least twice a day and recommend a pea-sized amount for children between three and six years old, and only a smear for children under three. Swallowing should be avoided, and the manufacturer recommends regular dental visits alongside daily brushing. Shelf life is two years from the date of manufacture, as stated on the packaging.
