About this experience
This fourteen-day route runs the length of Sri Lanka's cultural and coastal regions, starting on the west coast at Negombo and swinging inland to the ancient cities around Dambulla before dropping to the east coast beaches of Pasikudah and Arugam Bay. From there it climbs into the hill country at Ella, calls at the wildlife plains of Udawalawe, and finishes along the south-west coast through Hikkaduwa, Bentota and Colombo before departure.
Travellers cover the ancient capitals with their dagobas, sacred bo trees and carved galleries, the rock fortress of Sigiriya, a stretch of highland scenery around Ella, a national park stop for wildlife, and a run of beach towns on both the east and south coasts. A private vehicle and English-speaking chauffeur guide are provided throughout, with transport, the guide's accommodation, taxes and service charges included; hotel stays, entrance fees, airfares and personal spending are arranged separately.
The tour is run as a private itinerary, so the group sets its own pace along this coast-to-hills-to-coast route rather than following a fixed group schedule. The minimum age for travellers on this tour is 11 years.
