Spend four days exploring Sri Lanka's rich agricultural heritage on this private tour, led by an English-speaking chauffeur guide. Travel by private vehicle across the island's farming heartland, where paddy fields stretch to the horizon and working plantations carry traditions shaped by ancient kings. Depending on the season, you may watch farmers cultivate or harvest rice to the rhythm of customary harvest songs — a sight rarely seen on a standard itinerary.

Your route takes in plant and seed nurseries, commercial vegetable farms, fruit orchards, dairies, and tea plantations, giving you a grounded picture of how Sri Lanka feeds itself today. All transport, fuel, parking, and highway tolls are covered, along with taxes and service charges. Hotel accommodation, entrance fees, and personal expenses are not included, so budget for these separately. Minimum age for this tour is five years.

Day-by-day itinerary

1 Madawala Ulpotha

Day 1 — BIA > Jim’s Farm Villas

Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Here, you will be met by a

designated chauffer guide from Lakpura Travels. After the formalities

at the airport you will be escorted to your air-conditioned Van and

proceed to Jim’s Farm Villas.

Day 2 — Jim’s Farm Villas > Melsiripura Farm > Hingurakgoda farm Villa

Melsiripura farm consisted of four Divisions viz. Medamulla,

Ragedara, Wagolla and Walpolayaya was taken over by the National Livestock Development Board during 1976-1977 periods.

Melsiripura farm is situated on Kurunegala-Dambulla road

approximately 28km from Kurunegala.

Day 3 — Hingurakgoda

CIC Seed Production Farm, the biggest seed production farm in Sri

Lanka located at Hingurakgoda Divisional secretariat division in

Polonnaruwa District. Polonnaruwa district is one of the famous

paddy cultivation area in the country.

Activates which you will be getting here are, paddy field. If you like

you can get on to the paddy field & learn about the rice cultivation

process. Once we are done here, you can visit the Fruit & vegetable farm within the farming site.

4 Galaha

Day 4 — Kandy > Airport

Situated on the road to Kandy in Kiribathkumbura between

Pilimathalawa and Peradeniya, the Tea Fortress is a citadel for the

finest varieties of Mlesna tea. Resembling a well-fortified fortress,

the setting and atmosphere once inside is nothing but warm and

friendly. (Time – 3hrs)

In a Tea factory you will be taught how the tea leaves are plucked & processed. This will take approximately 03 hours. You can purchase tea from their stole & taste some tea for free
