About this experience
The 3-hour Sunset Cruise from Trincomalee City is a private afternoon on the water, starting and ending at Trincomalee harbour. It is built for families and groups of friends who want the late light over the sea to themselves, with time to look for whales, get into the water and simply sit back as the day winds down.
The boat heads out from the harbour in the afternoon and the crew keep an eye on the water for whales as the sun lowers. Whales are wild animals that come and go on their own terms, so the watching is part of the outing rather than a promise; the open sea, the sky and the company are what every departure offers.
There is more to do than watch. Swimming is part of the cruise, and there is a stand-up paddleboard for anyone who wants to try their balance on the swell. Snacks and complimentary refreshments are served on board, so nobody needs to bring a picnic.
The cruise runs from May to October and is for guests aged five and over. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, so plan your own way to the harbour; gratuities and personal expenses are also your own. It is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, infants cannot sit on laps, and it is not recommended for anyone with a heart condition.
