Perched at 6,200 feet above sea level in the heart of Hatton, The Peakrest Hotel occupies a working tea estate on the Colombo–Nuwara Eliya main highway. The property overlooks rolling tea plantations and enjoys a direct outlook toward the holy mountain of Adams Peak, making it a natural base for travellers exploring Sri Lanka's central highlands.

The hotel sits just five minutes from Hatton Town and approximately twenty minutes from Ginigathena. Within seven kilometres lie the Dickoya, Castlereigh, and Maussakele reservoirs, and the old British hill resort of Nuwara Eliya is within easy reach. The estate's setting, with its remnants of colonial-era character, offers a quiet reminder of the region's British plantation heritage.

Surroundings and Scenery

The immediate landscape is rich with natural attractions. The cascading Devon and St. Clair waterfalls, along with nearby caves, add considerably to the scenic beauty of the area. A large, well-planned landscaped garden surrounds the hotel, framing panoramic views of green hills on all sides. Guests can also enjoy the cheerful sounds of the local birdlife drifting through the estate throughout the day.

Accommodation

The hotel offers 14 bedrooms, each finished with well-polished floors and tiled en-suite bathrooms supplied with hot and cold water. Every room is fitted with a heater and is arranged to take in the surrounding green hills. Colonial-style fireplaces, carefully arranged beds, and period furniture lend the rooms a warm, unhurried atmosphere. A large sitting lobby features a Rangoon teak floor, fireplace, and indoor games, while a separate sitting room with its own fireplace faces out toward the hills and is equipped with a television.

Dining

The hotel's restaurant can seat up to 150 guests at a time, serving meals either buffet or à la carte style. The kitchen prepares Western, Chinese, and Eastern dishes on request, with room service available around the clock. A dedicated chef oversees the preparation of these varied cuisines, supported by a team of stewards and room attendants on duty twenty-four hours a day.

Additional Services

Laundry service runs alongside the round-the-clock room service. The hotel can also arrange tours to any part of Sri Lanka on request, making it a convenient starting point for wider exploration of the island.
