Oceans Edge is a two-storey, four-bedroom villa nestled within a large coconut plantation in the village of Kahandamodara, on the southern coastal town of Tangalle. Sitting in close proximity to the famous Tangalle Bay, the villa is designed for rest and relaxation, offering a 180-degree view of the Indian Ocean and a thoroughly eco-friendly character that sets it apart from conventional holiday accommodation.

The property's large infinity-style pool overlooks a densely wooded area, and the surrounding grounds attract a remarkable variety of wildlife. Migratory birds visit during the winter months, while peacocks are a familiar sight on the grounds during the summer — making Oceans Edge a quietly rewarding retreat for anyone drawn to nature.

Accommodation and Facilities

The villa's four spacious, air-conditioned bedrooms each have an attached bathroom, and one room is fitted out specifically for children. Private sitting areas are arranged throughout the house, complemented by a TV room stocked with magazines and books, and iPod docking stations for those who like a personal soundtrack. An outside dining area on the front patio looks directly out over the ocean, and an in-house chef is on hand to cater to every culinary request — with the freshest fish and seafood delivered directly from the nearby lagoon. Exploring the Surroundings

Despite its peaceful seclusion, Oceans Edge is well placed for excursions into the wider Southern Province. Yala National Park and Bundala Wildlife National Park are each approximately one and a half hours' drive from the villa, while Udawalawe National Park lies about two hours away. The famous Blow Hole is around 45 minutes by road. Closer still, a stone's throw from the villa, is the Kalametiya Point bird sanctuary, and the area is home to two beautiful lagoons ideal for quiet exploration. Tangalle Bay itself is well regarded for bird watching, and the coastline around the villa is considered very good for surfing, particularly during August and September.

For those drawn to cultural heritage, the Wewkanda fresco temple and the Mulkirigala rock temple are among the places of interest reachable with a personal tour guide arranged through the villa. And for simpler pleasures, guests can simply walk out onto the beach to watch the sunset or spend an evening listening to the ocean beneath a canopy of stars.
