A twenty-two-year-old woman discovers unexpected love when she falls for Miu, a woman seventeen years her senior, forcing her to reconsider her own identity. Sumire confides her feelings to K, her best friend and a primary school teacher who listens patiently but harbors deeper, unspoken emotions of his own. In this exploration of desire and connection, Murakami weaves together the complexities of first love, unrequited affection, and the painful distance between what we feel and what we can say.
