Whole black peppercorns from Bowatte. Black pepper is the dried berry of the Piper nigrum vine, a spice long grown in Sri Lanka, with a sharp, pungent heat that comes from the compound piperine.
How it is used
- Ground fresh in a pepper mill over meat, eggs, salads and soups
- Crushed into Sri Lankan pepper curries and devilled dishes
- Used in marinades, rubs, stocks and homemade spice blends
Sizes
- 75 g
- 250 g
- 500 g
Storage
Keep in a closed container in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Whole peppercorns hold their aroma far longer than ready-ground pepper, so grind only what is needed.
