Simha and Simha Porondam

When both partners are born under Simha (Leo), the rashi-level checks in porondam and porutham give a clear, consistent picture. This page explains those results and why the two birth stars, not the shared rashi alone, decide how well the match truly works.

Which Simha is meant here?

In Sri Lankan marriage matching, the rashi is the Moon sign (chandra rashi), the sign the Moon occupied at birth, worked out in the sidereal zodiac used in Sri Lanka. It is not the sun sign printed in newspaper horoscopes, so someone who calls themselves a Leo in Western astrology may have a different Moon sign entirely.

Simha covers the birth stars Magha, Purva Phalguni and the first quarter of Uttara Phalguni. Because both partners share this sign, the results are the same whichever way round they are read: with the bride in Simha and the groom in Simha, the rashi count from bride to groom is 1, meaning the same sign, in both directions.

How do the rashi and rashi lord checks turn out?

In the Sinhala system, rashi porondam is obtained, and the Tamil rasi porutham is likewise obtained. A count of 1 means both Moons sit in the same sign, which the calculator treats as a favourable placement.

The rashi lord of Simha is the Sun, so both partners share the same ruling planet. With the lord being the same planet, there is no question of enmity between the lords, and the calculator marks rashyadhipathi porondam and rasi adhipathi porutham as obtained in both systems.

Taken together, these two checks give a steady rashi-level foundation for a Simha–Simha pairing.

What does the vashya result mean?

Vashya (vasya in Tamil) looks at a traditional relationship of attraction or influence between the two rashis. Certain pairs of signs are grouped as having this mutual pull, and the check asks whether the bride's and groom's signs fall into such a pairing.

For two people both in Simha, the calculator records vashya as not obtained in both the Sinhala and Tamil systems, and the result is identical in either direction since the signs are the same.

This is one item among many. On its own it does not settle a match, and astrologers always weigh it alongside the star-based factors, which carry far more of the overall assessment.

Why do the birth stars matter more than the rashi?

Simha spans nine star-quarters (padas), so two Simha partners can be paired in 81 different star-quarter combinations. The real match is decided by the two birth stars (nakshatra), and the outcomes across those 81 combinations vary widely.

According to the calculator, only about 5% of these combinations reach 8 of the 10 Tamil poruthams, around 46% come out weak in the Tamil system, and about 41% show a rajju clash. In contrast, roughly 95% pass the Sinhala porondam check when the weekday factor is left aside.

So the same pair of rashis can produce very different results. Using the calculator with full birth details, and consulting a family astrologer, gives the true picture.
