Ayurveda and Wellness

The Ayurveda Centre forms the heart of the resort. Designed and operated solely for in-house Ayurvedic guests, it draws on ancient, time-tested health rejuvenation methods to rebuild body and mind using all-natural approaches. The centre consists of several specially designed cubicles where a variety of therapies are administered. Each guest begins with an examination by an Ayurveda specialist doctor, who assesses their condition and prescribes an individualised course of treatment, diet, and therapy. From that point, guests receive personalised attention from a team of qualified therapists and well-informed staff. Yoga and meditation programmes are also offered to complement the Ayurvedic treatments.

Dining and Facilities

The resort restaurant serves wholesome, natural Ayurvedic health food centred on vegetables and fish; no meat is provided, and alcohol is not available. Guests are offered herbal drinks throughout their stay. Beyond the dining experience, the resort houses a large freshwater swimming pool, an Ayurveda health products shop, laundry services, foreign currency exchange, IDD and internet facilities, and a library. Guest relations officers fluent in English, German, French, and Italian are on hand, and cultural shows and evening entertainment are organised regularly.

Excursions and Activities

The Bentota River provides a natural setting for water sports, including windsurfing, water-skiing, and sailing. The wider region offers a number of worthwhile excursions. The Brief Garden in Kalawila is laid out across five acres with tropical trees, while the Kaneliya Rainforest is home to rare birds and animals. Tea plantations at Udugama, the Kalutara Buddhist Temple, the Galapatha Viharaya, and the Galle Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — are all within reach. For those who prefer to stay closer to the resort, the beach itself invites long, unhurried hours of relaxation.

Getting There

The most convenient ways to reach Bentota from Colombo are via the Colombo–Galle–Matara Southern Railway line or the Colombo–Galle main coastal road, both of which run along the south-western shore.
