About this experience
Depart your hotel in Panadura, Wadduwa, or Moratuwa at 08:30 in a private, air-conditioned vehicle with your English-speaking chauffeur guide. Your first stop is the Handunugoda Tea Factory, where a 90-minute tour reveals how Virgin White Tea — untouched by human hands throughout production — is crafted using a tradition revived from ancient China. Continue to Ahangama to watch stilt fishermen balance over the surf, and hear directly from them how the technique works. Lunch is at a restaurant of your choice before you reach Galle by 15:00.
Spend 90 minutes inside Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, taking in the lighthouse, the National Maritime Museum, and cobblestoned Dutch colonial streets. The day closes at the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, where you spend half an hour learning about the five sea turtle species that nest on Sri Lanka's coast, handle hatchlings, and see injured adults in recovery. You're back at your hotel between 18:00 and 19:00. Bottled water is provided; entrance fees, meals, and gratuities are at your own expense.
