About this experience
Board your air-conditioned vehicle in Negombo and head south with your English-speaking chauffeur guide for a full day on Sri Lanka's southern coast. First stop is Handunugoda Tea Factory — one of the few tea factories in the country set just minutes from the beach — where you walk the production floor and learn how leaves become the cup. Next, step inside the Dutch-built Fort of Galle, pacing its ramparts and exploring the historic streets within. Your guide's family has lived and worked in Galle for generations, so the stories here go well beyond the guidebook.
The tour runs for ten hours in total, with hotel pickup and drop-off included from Negombo. A complimentary water bottle per person keeps you refreshed en route. This is a private tour, so the pace is yours. Entrance tickets, meals, and gratuities are not included — budget for those separately.
