About this experience
Climb the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress — a UNESCO World Heritage Site rising 200 metres above the surrounding plains — and explore the palace ruins, frescoes, and landscaped gardens of what was once one of Sri Lanka's most powerful kingdoms. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide picks you up from your hotel, transfers you in an air-conditioned vehicle, and walks you through the archaeological layers of this extraordinary site over the course of a nine-hour private day tour.
After Sigiriya, step into a local village to see traditional Sri Lankan rural life at close quarters, sitting down to a traditional village lunch included in your tour. The afternoon takes you to Habarana Lake, where a guided bird-watching session lets you scan the waterways and surrounding greenery for the area's diverse avian species. Water is provided throughout, and hotel drop-off is included at the end of the day. Entrance tickets are not included and should be budgeted separately.
